Generally if I am approached by a stranger I automatically assume they want something. It is easy to forget that when in another part of the world it could be different, or that back at home at the very least I need to remind myself to let people in, even if they aren’t familiar or make me uncomfortable.

Our new friend Ratna made us laugh and taught us that knowledge is the biggest gift you can share. Persistence even in the most awkward and challenging moments with strangers are the most fulfilling, I am glad we let this stranger in and we were lucky enough to learn about the history of  Sigiriya .

Arriving in Talpe near   Galle   towards the end of our trip was always going to be a rewarding one. It was the first time during the Sri Lankan journey that there would be time to really relax, reflect and go for a well deserved swim in the oc ean. Our tuk tuk driver reminded me of home, the surfer type with scruffy hair, relaxed attitude and contagious smile. Even still with this reminder I wasn’t ready to go home, to be honest I still wish I was there.
