One thing that makes me extremely happy is when I see kids taking photos. Something takes control of me and I become the spectator almost the subject for them. Photography is an effective tool in igniting children’s imagination, self-esteem and to empower. Put a camera in a child’s hand and you will be amazed to see what we as adults are unable to capture.   — with  Moe Elrifai  at  Avukana Buddha statue .

Generally if I am approached by a stranger I automatically assume they want something. It is easy to forget that when in another part of the world it could be different, or that back at home at the very least I need to remind myself to let people in, even if they aren’t familiar or make me uncomfortable.

Our new friend Ratna made us laugh and taught us that knowledge is the biggest gift you can share. Persistence even in the most awkward and challenging moments with strangers are the most fulfilling, I am glad we let this stranger in and we were lucky enough to learn about the history of  Sigiriya .

One of many photos from   Sri Lanka   that I will be sharing this week. This girl with the magical smile was captured during my train ride from Hatton to Ella.     She was shy at first and barely visible peering out the window, I simply waved and smiled and we shared many small moments and giggles. If I am able to somehow express how incredible the Sri Lankan people are it can be seen through this girl’s smile.
