Chasing the light.

Was struggling to get some shots yesterday I was happy with. Went through 400+ photos and this shot ended up being the first photo I took that day. Sometimes opportunity arrives when you don’t wait for it.

I had been struggling of late, overwhelmed with constant interruptions and finding it difficult to spend time on ‘me’. The opportunity for a change of scenery presented itself and I grabbed it. I travelled with close friends to Byron, a place that easily guides you to slow down and relax.

The first visit to the ocean everything started making sense again, I was inspired and reminded to bring it back and pay attention to the now. With my camera in hand and the ocean as my backdrop this girl was the perfect reminder that the simple things make it all worth while, smiling at a stranger and being in the moment.

Early morning rise in Sri Lanka hoping to catch a glimpse of some whales. The harbour with its endless boats and subtle light from sunrise made for a painting like image.

She didn’t move for over an hour and stood there looking at the water with her headphones on. I tried to get her attention but realised she was in her own world and I didn’t exist.

Bringing it back home to Sydney, Australia is this photo called ‘Beauty’.

This is one image of two recently submitted to the Art & About Sydney competition on #AustralianLife. Morning autumn swim for this local, pausing for a moment to take it all in.

I don’t really have a story behind this image but I think it speaks for itself. With a view like this to photograph one doesn’t need words.

Waiting for my train to Ella from Hatton, Sri Lanka.

Had just waved goodbye to some new friends from Spain. The next train to Ella was delayed and I was a little annoyed because of it. I now realise and am reminded that things happen for a reason. I now had more time at the station and met a beautiful family, my friend travelling with me spent time feeding the stray dogs determined to save them all .

I am now grateful for the delay as I was able to capture this image, which still remains a favourite. Lesson learnt, just go with it and don’t rush.
